Nollywood Star, Genevieve Nnaji takes more International Strides

It is no news that Genevieve Nnaji is one of Africa’s entertainment exports. She successfully conquered the heart of Nollywood Fans home and abroad.

Undoubtedly she is a global Nollywood star. However, we have watched as our girl has been spreading her star-studded wings towards Hollywood.

First, her directorial debut, Lionheart, became the first-ever Nollywood film to be bought by Netflix for a whopping 1 billion naira.

Then Lionheart became the first Nigerian movie to be shortlisted for the category of Best International Film for the 2020 Academy Awards.

Unfortunately, the nomination was withdrawn due to complexities with the movies fit for the category. However, this unfortunate news was not a total loss for Genevieve because the news caused outrage online especially from colored filmmakers. The news trended worldwide and people who didn’t know Genevieve Nnaji came to know her.

 Genevieve Nnaji dazzled like a star at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon. 

Just after the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event, Genevieve headed to the Vanity Fair and Lancome Women in Hollywood celebration, where she, again, bedazzled. before heading to the 13th Annual Women in Film Female Oscar Nominees Party, joining favourite stars from Yvonne Orji, Billy Porter, Kerry Washington, Mj Rodriguez, Idina Menzel and a host of other black women who have distinguished themselves in their various fields.
